We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified, registered teacher who wants permanent full-time hours (35hrs) and loves to work within a community, is flexible, calmly energetic, enthusiastic about pre-schoolers. If you are wanting to ease into the position, we are flexible and can negotiate part time that leads to full time.

We are a small team who work together very well in a great environment, plenty of resources and room to grow. Licenced for 40 (including up to 10 Under 2’s). Full time staff hours are 8.30am to 4pm including at least one hour per day non-contact/meeting time, children attend 8.45am to 2.45pm.

Cafe Team Leader

We are a Christian community organisation in Papanui that serves our community in various ways which includes various food programmes, Zion Studio - our performing arts school, Make Me New - our clothing op shop, and our café - Big Papa’s Kitchen.

We are looking for someone of sound Christian character that can lead our café team and that can function well within the close relationship we have with Northcity Church (in whose building we are based). The leader will need to be experienced in working in a church environment and wear many hats as they serve the church, the community and the businesses around the church. Our café is the hub where we show hospitality to our own people and to visitors. The ideal person will need to be able to create a welcoming, homely environment for people of all ages and backgrounds, from the young dancers, church youth, the elderly, and people from all cultures. As the connector between various users of the building he/she will need to be very flexible, accommodating and a good collaborator who can function in a diverse environment where many demands are often placed on the kitchen. 

This person will be responsible for the menu, overseeing the preparation and presentation of food and be confident to lead a team. They will seek to understand the target market and develop a low-waste menu that will meet the needs of our target market. This person will also be responsible for keeping the kitchen and pantry organised and stocked with the necessary food and ingredients that are used by other ministries in the church.

The role is for 25 hours with the potential of increasing it to 40 hours per week.

OpShop Team Leader

Northgate is a Christian community organisation in Papanui which works in close partnership with Northcity Church. We serve our community in various ways through food programmes, Big Papa’s Kitchen - our community café, Zion Studios - our performing arts school, and of recent times a clothing op shop - ‘Make Me New’.

We are looking for someone of sound Christian character that can lead our op shop team. This role will have a combination of practical, creative, marketing, and fashion-related responsibilities. The person will need to have a keen eye for fashion trends and labels, and in addition to serving customers, they will be responsible for overseeing the layout of the shop, rotating clothes, pricing, selling online and sorting clothes. The person will need to be friendly and empathetic towards people and should find it easy to connect with customers, converse with them and assist them. The Op Shop is a busy place and will require a well-organised person to lead it.  Working closely with shop assistants, providing them with training, and interacting with clients will be an important part of this role. 

The role is for 25 hours with the potential of increasing it to 40 hours per week.
