The Latest Update Safe Haven Housing Trust

Tena Koutou Katoa,

Friends and Supporters of The Safe Haven Trust (Wharenui Ahuru Mowai) (SHHT) & The Asia Pacific Discipleship Trust.

On the 8th of June we were at the point that we need a remaining $97,000 to go unconditional by today. We did not make that amount - in the last three days we received $23,159 from 64 donors. So we need another $53,841.

We weren’t discouraged because yesterday we asked the builders for an extension of 7 days, but they surprised us with 12 days. Our unconditional date is now 21st June 2021.

We praise God joyfully, that over the Queen’s birthday weekend we were able to communicate with over 12,000 people through a video produced by Smiley Media. In the Mangere market on Saturday morning people took out their wallets and gave us donations. It was humbling. This is the link to the video - https://m.facebook.com/watch/?v=228349598793106

We also did an interview with Pastor John Catmur of the Mangere Central Baptist Church, and he explained his vision for helping asylum seekers integrate into New Zealand society in the context of Maori, Marae, and Mangere’s diverse multicultural community. View the interview on Facebook under smiley media.

We had a goal of a total of $250,000 by the 10th June, 2021. It's now extended to the 21st June by God’s grace. Thank you so much for your part in this miracle of provision.

Some of the lessons we are learning from this ministry are these; connect before we communicate; the plight of asylum seekers opens the hearts of Kiwis; kindness is becoming a national cultural value.   Since we started this project, we have received donations from 128 people or organisations.  We have 1076 people on our database.  We are praying that the majority of the remaining 948 people will give an average of $50 each, and in that way, we will reach our target and be able to go unconditional with the purchase of the two townhouses.

If you have not made a donation yet, please ask God how much you should give. Please donate today or by the 17th of June at the latest. No matter how big or how small the amount is, please show your support with a gift.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for SHHT to acquire two identical properties containing 4 double bedrooms, 3 large bathrooms and a large living area and a internal access garage. The price includes all the household appliances and landscaped gardens and a big driveway and footpaths. We do not have to settle the balance until the 20th of December, 2021.

SHHT’s volunteer staff will be able to house desperate asylum seekers soon after we are able to declare the contract unconditional.

What will happen as a result of your faith and sacrifice? Asylum seekers will be loved, housed, fed and kept out of prison. They will feel a warm ‘Haeremai’ and ‘Hongi’ welcome in NZ. They will avoid the terrible experience of being raped, punched in the face, head and chest, denied food by stand over tactics of other prisoners and other cruel practices.

Asylum seekers are not criminals. Just people fleeing for their lives as a result of a change of religion or political views. They need a safe place to live and be mentored into life in NZ.

Now is our opportunity to show the world again, that we are compassionate Kiwis who care.

Attached is our updated 4 page brochure tells a much fuller story. Print it out and give it to your friends and neighbours and ask them to help. PLEASE, PLEASE, HELP NOW by giving a love gift.

We will need an additional $53,841 by June 21st to go unconditional.

The Trustees are kindly requesting your vote of confidence in this project – can you please bank any amount into Safe Haven Housing Trusts bank account by the 10th June. Thank you so much.
